Open Channels provides an exciting technology-led musical environment
where the aspirations and creativity of children and young people
can thrive and develop in a contemporary atmosphere.
A
flexible, portable set-up including Apple laptops operating Protools, Logic, Ableton Live, Garageband
and Reason, music sequencer, PA and projector is used
with groups of 8 to 15 participants for a range of activities
including recording, composition and performance. This
work has proved to be a very successful and popular strand of the
work of Musiko Musika, pupils respond well to the use of technology
and make good connections between their own music making and the
youth culture that they are part of.
Open Channels can be delivered in schools as a one-day programme
of activities for a class as well as an on-going series of workshops.
