Projects
The success of the World Music in Education Conference held in March 2006 has given increased weight and energy to plans for the World Music Academy. A pilot World Music Summer School for young people has been awarded funding from Hackney Holiday Grants and will take place in Hackney in August. Long-term plans for the development of this project are currently being discussed with Hackney Music Services.
In addition Musiko Musika is continuing to develop the Music Links programme following the launch of the Foundation and KS 1 & 2 resources. These are very well received by teachers as they offer an excellent opportunity to implement the innovative musical and educational techniques of Music Links. A range of workshops and training packages are being delivered in schools to support the resources. (See link to Music Links page on the right)
About 500 children participate regularly each week in workshops at Kensal Rise Primary School (L.B. Brent), Colvestone Primary School and St Mary's CE Primary School (both L.B. Hackney).
Summer music activities will take place holiday clubs in Southend-on-Sea again this year in partnership with Southend SureStart.
