Musiko Musika works to enable vibrant and creative multi-cultural communities formed from individuals that are secure in their cultural identity and possessing the tools to engage positively with other cultures. We believe that music is a powerful tool to achieve that objective as it transcends language and social barriers to build bridges between people and cultures.

The organisation has a unique approach to empowering participants with the skills for cultural development and social change, enabling them to be active in the creativity that arises out of cultural exchange, rather than visitors to a “museum of musical cultures”.

  FEB 2009 - BUILDING A LONG-TERM RELATIONSHIP WITH A SCHOOL
A major feature of the development of Musiko Musika since it was first founded in 1998 has been the long-term relationships that have developed with schools. We have worked at Kensal Rise Primary School for eight years now, attending on a weekly basis, at first one day per week and now two days per week.

A residency such as this is something that has been possible because of the commitment and support that we have had from the school’s headteacher Mrs Page and the staff and governors.
